We do not receive any fixed central or local government funding and rely entirely on a combination of voluntary donations, grants we are able to obtain and income from our transcription services.
Our general Service Provision Policy is to provide practical help and assistance for anyone suffering from sight loss, which enables those people to maintain healthy, independent and socially inclusive living for as long as possible, notwithstanding the impact of their sight loss.
As a Charity, we took the decision about two years ago, that we must look for new and innovative ways to deliver our services and our main emphasis is to provide and deliver these services directly into the community rather than expecting service users to come to us.
We currently have a core staff of twelve (mix of full time and part time) and are supported by over 300 volunteers – a fantastic endorsement, we think, that the public of Dorset recognise the importance of the work we do and want to help and support that.
