What a legacy from you could do

will_red

We rely on the generosity of caring people to help develop and maintain our services for visually impaired people in Dorset.

Legacies are our single most important source of funding and without them we could not survive and continue to operate.

Legacies are also tax efficient, as a gift to a charity is exempt from Inheritance Tax, and what is more, it might bring the remaining estate below the Inheritance Tax threshold because gifts to charities are deducted first and only what is left is potentially liable to the tax.

You can choose to leave a gift to the Dorset Blind Association in several ways, but the two most common are:

Monetary gifts – a fixed amount of money
Residuary gifts – the whole, or a share of, the residue of your estate.

We cannot stress too strongly how important it is to have your Will made properly so we strongly recommend that you do this through a solicitor, bank or other professional Will writing service.

If you have an existing Will and would like to update this by adding a gift to us, you may be able to do this by just making a codicil to it, rather than making a completely new one. Again, we strongly recommend that you seek professional advice about this.

Thank you for supporting our work in this way.
